The San Marcos Art League, which has a mission “to encourage, foster, promote, and nurture the arts in the San Marcos community,” is opening a new gallery and multipurpose space at 117 N. Guadalupe St., Ste. 101, San Marcos, in mid-October.
In addition to a gallery to exhibit work from a rotating series of artists, the space will host artist receptions, talks, children’s art classes, film screenings and other events. The center will also have an area to sell artisanal goods such as a jewelry, soaps and crochet items.
According to Kathryn Welch, president of the San Marcos Art League, the organization hopes to foster collaborations bridging the arts, culture and community at large.
