The Round Rock Chamber today announced that the Air Quality Division of Sutron Corporation (Sutron AQD), formerly MeteoStar of Round Rock, Texas and Sabio Engineering of Georgetown, Texas, manufacturers of and providers of air quality instrumentation, water monitoring instrumentation, and weather monitoring, forecasting and reporting systems, have expanded and relocated to Round Rock by to an existing 9,100 sq. ft. building in the Chandler Creek Business Park. Sutron AQD currently has fifteen employees and the potential to expand to an additional thirty employees over the next five years. Their products are used in a variety of markets to provide real-time weather situational awareness, forecasting solutions for decision support for aviation and emergency responders, and environmental air and water quality data collection for customers reporting data to the Environmental Protection Agency. “Expanding in Round Rock was our first choice and the timing was right for us to upgrade to a more modern facility. The chamber worked with us diligently over many months to evaluate new construction options as well as existing building alternatives to meet our needs,” said David Vaello, Vice President of Sutron. Since 2000, AQD has been located in a 4,000 sq. ft. facility on Sam Bass Road in Round Rock. The relocation allows AQD to consolidate operations of two facilities as well as expand their operations. “We are pleased that Sutron has chosen to expand in Round Rock. This project is a great example of our business retention and expansion efforts which are focused on meeting the needs of our existing businesses so they can remain and grow in Round Rock,” said Saridon Stanton, the chamber’s director of business retention and expansion. Prior to their acquisition by Sutron Corporation, MeteoStar had been in business since 1997 and their customer base includes applications for air and water quality monitoring, aviation, hydrology, weather, transportation, power/energy, research, and the military.
