On Jan. 16, Concordia University Texas officially announced its new designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. HSIs are defined as colleges, universities, or systems/districts where total Hispanic enrollment constitutes a minimum of 25 percent of the total enrollment, the HSI website said. Concordia also announced the appointment of Elizabeth Medina, associate vice president for student life, to lead diversity and inclusion initiatives as chief diversity officer.
