Travis County adds temporary voter registration center

The Travis County Voter Registration Office, located at 4705 Heflin Lane, Austin, is a new, temporary site for voter registration. The office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The temporary office is part of a plan to alleviate traffic at the Travis County Tax Office, located at 5501 Airport Blvd., Austin. Over the next 18 months crews will construct additional county offices and affordable housing units at the site.

Travis County plans to relocate the main tax office to a larger facility. Officials are exploring available office space in the north-central part of the county, according to a Jan. 3 news release.

  1. Automatic Voter Registration would reduce costs for Texas Counties and the State. It would help to eliminate problems at polls for voters . The Brennan Center for Justice has more information on automatic registration. Country wide 40 million eligible voters did not vote in the 2018 election. Around 2 million here in Texas did not vote in the last election. Increased accuracy and saving money should be the way for Texas to go in the future.
