Swappa, a safe marketplace for buying and selling used electronics online, launched its services in Austin on June 17. The internet-based Kansas City company, founded in 2010 and known as the “friendly marketplace,” works to help protect consumers from fraud and faulty products, according to a press release. Swappa’s digital inventory as seen on its website includes iPhones, cameras, laptops and more. Each device undergoes a thorough in-person review process by a Swappa employee, according to company policy. “Swappa wants our users to trust the tech they buy,” CEO Ben Edwards said. The online service is officially available in the Lake Travis and Greater Austin areas. www.swappa.com
