The second Salt Traders Coastal Cooking will open this year at 1101 South Mopac Expressway, Austin in the Barton Oaks Plaza. Remaining consistent with its first location, the new Salt Traders Zilker location will align with the best seafood vendors from coast to coast, ensuring the freshest seafood is always on hand, a news release said. “We’ve had so much fun over the last two years in Round Rock," chef Jack Gilmore, who also owns the Jack Allen's Kitchen restaurants, said in the release. "We’ve built strong relationships with incredible oyster mongers, fish mongers and local farmers and are happy to continue to cultivate these relationships at a second location." The drink program at the restaurant, led by David Toby, will feature coastal-inspired beverages that complement the ocean-fresh fare, the release said. There will be cocktails and a selection of draft, bottle and canned beer, a wine list that pairs with seafood and a wine on tap program. The design of the second location will stay true to the original restaurant, offering guests a laid-back environment, the release said, adding the restaurant will feature a color palate of blue, gray and white with natural wood textures tied into the design. The restaurant will be located in what was formerly the Texas Land & Cattle Steak House. “We are excited to once again repurpose an existing space," business partner Tom Kamm said. "We’re also thrilled to be close to downtown and other neighborhoods with plenty of parking, which is very rare to come by in the Austin area these days." An official timeline has not yet been released. www.salttraderscc.com
