Trianon-The Coffee Place, 3201 Bee Caves Road, Austin, is planning to relocate less than a mile away to 3654 Bee Caves Road, West Lake Hills, co-owner Charles Emile Lauriat told
Community Impact Newspaper on Monday.
"We are excited to have a new location, and we are working hard to get it ready as quickly as we can," Lauriat said. "We still have a lot of work to do, but we are committed to continuing the Austin coffee tradition that Trianon helped to build. We are staying in the community that we have been in for over 30 years."
Permitting for the location has not yet been completed, but he said he is optimistic the process will move forward.
Hand-roasting coffee in the Westlake area since 1985, the local coffee staple announced in August that
the business was not offered an opportunity to renew its current lease and could either relocate or close at the end of the year.
“After thriving for over 30 years in the same location, an out-of-state management company with no understanding of our unique community has forced us out," Lauriat said. "Unfortunately this is emblematic of what is happening all over Austin. Iconic local brands are being supplanted with no appreciation for our local businesses or communities built with and around them."
If the permitting process is successful, the space will require extensive renovations, Lauriat said. The location was most recently a small gym, Tangra Elite Athletics, which closed in March.
There is not an estimated date to open the new location, he said.
"We will keep this iconic Westlake business alive," he said. "With our community rallying behind us we feel confident that we will last another 32 years."
