Cafe Ruckus, a downtown Austin coffee shop whose menu includes coffee, lattes, cappuccino, espresso and tea as well as locally made pastries and ice cream, will close its doors tomorrow. The coffee shop, located at 409 W. Second St., Austin, has been open since January 2014. Co-owners and siblings Rori Gallagher and Keith Ruckus said on Cafe Ruckus' website that "the time is right for us to move on to new adventures." "We're just kind of ready to move on to new things, " Gallagher told Community Impact Newspaper in a phone interview. She said Toy Joy, located next door at 403 W. Second St., Austin, will take over the space with a new concept, which the owners, Shelley Meyer and Fred Schmidt, plan to announce Tuesday. The toy shop, which has been in Austin since 1987, sells a variety of children's toys, nostalgic toys, collectibles, puzzles, temporary tattoos and card games. Gallagher said she plans to hold a pop-up version of the Austin Tea Room, Cafe Ruckus' weekly Sunday afternoon high tea service, in the future. "It would just kind of rotate around the city," she said. 512-476-7825. www.caferuckus.com
