Becker Elementary School teacher Allison Ashley was named the 2017 Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators on Oct. 14. The program recognizes and rewards teachers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching. Ashley is now in the running to represent Texas in the National Teacher of the Year program. She is in her 10th year of teaching, her first at Becker Elementary School in AISD, where she teaches third-grade dual-language classes.
