Contemporary American restaurant Eberly will open at 613 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin, in the fall. The menu will be designed by executive chef Jim Tripi. The restaurant is named after Angelina Eberly, a local innkeeper who shot the cannon that scared away Sam Houston and his Texas Rangers in 1846. www.eberlyaustin.com

Updated Oct. 3: The bar section of Eberly, a new restaurant on South Lamar Boulevard, opened today. Named after the same bar in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City from which the 150-year-old hand-carved mahogany bar came, Cedar Tavern features classic American tavern food from executive chef Jim Tripi, classic cocktails and locally crafted beers. Eberly will open in its entirety in the coming weeks and will include a dining room, study and rooftop terrace.
