Board members serve three-year terms. Three candidates have filed to appear on the ballot for Place 1 on the Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees: Albert Kennedy, Christopher Neighbors and Kevin Weber.
Early voting will be available April 20-April 28.

What will be your top priorities if you are elected?
Ensuring transparency with the community, improving pay to retain and attract the highest quality teachers, ensuring maximum efficiency and responsible use of taxpayer dollars, constantly seeking feedback and listening to the concerns of teachers, staff, and families, and ensuring the safest learning environment for our next generation to thrive.
What uniquely qualifies you for this position?
I am a successful engineer, mathematician, and meteorologist who takes pride in making the complex understandable daily, solving complex challenges few others can, and building consensus after hearing others’ ideas. I have become fluent on the many challenges facing public education and have experience serving on a board.
What do you see as the greatest challenge for the school district, and how will you improve it?
Lack of transparency. The latest example was the 16-day delay in informing the community of TEA’s denial of a PD waiver which resulted in teachers, staff, and families being blindsided when Fridays suddenly had to be added back. The community should be informed of things like this immediately.
What is something you want residents to know about you?
I have three kids ages seven, five, and three-months old, and my family and I plan to have all three of them graduate from this great school district. I want to do everything I can to ensure as great an education as possible for your kids and mine!

What will be your top priorities if you are elected?
Top priorities will be to restore cuts made from budget shortfall. Continue to navigate the budget challenges facing the district with the state funding not looking optimistic in the future. Continue to find ways to plan and build for coming growth. Continue our push towards academic excellence.
What uniquely qualifies you for this position?
Being a local multi small business owner I work with the day to day operations. I must see it all, plan for it all, and think every strategic decision though. This has proven helpful the last three years as the board is 7 people working together. You must have flexibility.
What do you see as the greatest challenge for the school district, and how will you improve it?
Greatest challenge is probably state funding. I have committed to increasing our fund balance to make sure we can weather future funding issues and that’s one great place to start. Another is making sure we add back positions strategically to be fiscally responsible.
What is something you want residents to know about you?
I have kept my promises from my first election to be in schools, be an advocate for kids/teachers, and make thoughtful decisions. Some decisions are hard and that is ok if people don’t agree. I have pushed to have more community involvement via surveys and committees as well.
