City officials appear likely to annex more than 4 square miles of land in East Austin along the Colorado River and support decades of mixed-use development there. Assistant City Manager Eric Johnson called the "mega-site" proposal a generational economic opportunity with the city at a "fiscal crossroads."
3. $250M Amazon warehouse, distribution center near CR 172 in Round Rock now operational
Planning and Development Services Director Brad Dushkin confirmed May 15 that the facility was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy May 13. The facility was previously set to open in late April, but rain delayed the finish out of CR 172 road improvements required before the building could be occupied.
