The Texas Department of Transportation is overhauling 14 miles of Loop 360 as part of the Texas Clear Lanes congestion relief initiative.

Upcoming projects
Project: The project will feature improvements between MoPac and RM 2244, including removing the traffic signals on the Loop 360 mainlanes and replacing them with an overpass at Walsh Tarlton Lane, and either an overpass or underpass at Lost Creek Boulevard and Westbank Drive.
Update: Environmental work began in fall 2019, and TxDOT officials held two public engagement events in 2019 and 2020. Construction is contingent upon funding.

Project: The project includes intersection improvements at RM 2244. The team will also evaluate adding a Diverging Diamond Interchange.

Lakewood Drive/Spicewood Springs Road
Project: The project will make improvements to the Lakewood Drive and Spicewood Springs Road intersections, including removing the traffic signals from the Loop 360 mainlanes, adding an overpass at the cross street, and removing the traffic signal from the west Spicewood Springs Road mainlanes.
Update: The project was environmentally cleared in summer 2023. Construction is contingent upon funding, but could begin in 2029.

Ongoing projects
Project: The project includes improvements to the Westlake Drive and Cedar Street intersections, including removing the traffic signals from the main lanes, creating an underpass beneath both cross streets, and adding shared-use paths and sidewalks.
Update: Construction will continue on the Loop 360 mainlanes between Bold Ruler Way and Pennybacker Bridge through late 2026.

Project: The project will include removing the traffic signal from the Loop 360 mainlanes at Courtyard Drive and constructing an overpass, reconfiguring RM 2222 at Loop 360 to a Diverging Diamond Interchange, and adding shared-use paths and sidewalks.
Update: TxDOT officials broke ground on the project April 29, and work will take place across four phases.
