Approximately 2 miles of Flint Rock Road—from RR 620 near Baylor Scott & White-Lakeway hospital to Serene Hills Drive—will be widened, and an asphalt shoulder will be added. The final phase remains that will provide the last travel lane, finalize drainage features and safety elements, and extend the road to Medical Parkway. Timeline: October 2015-late spring 2017

Bee Caves Road widening

TxDOT began construction on its $29 million Bee Caves Road project—designed to add a center turn lane from Redbud Trail to Walsh Tarlton Lane—Nov. 14. The city of West Lake Hills purchased right of way from adjoining homeowners along a 3-mile stretch of Bee Caves in order to facilitate the improvements. Timeline: Nov. 14-summer 2019

Hwy. 71 at Hwy. 290 intersection

A TxDOT project team is refining two build alternatives for its Oak Hill Parkway study to bring long-term traffic relief to the intersection of Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 290. A no-build alternative is also under consideration by planners. Timeline: late 2017 or early 2018 for completion of environmental study

Fort Smith Trail substandard road improvement

Road paving and drainage improvements on Fort Smith Trail in the Apache Shores neighborhood off RR 620 were completed by Travis County in 2015. Two drains are now being replaced. Timeline: July 2011-2017

RR 620 widening, safety measures

An estimated $80 million TxDOT project to widen RR 620 from four lanes to a six-lane, divided highway, adding concrete medians along the center from West Hwy. 71 to the Colorado River, is under development. Local municipalities along the roadway may contribute funding. Timeline: August 2023 bid/let date

RR 620 intersections

TxDOT will add a traffic signal on RR 620 at Dave Drive and a traffic signal at Oak Grove Boulevard and RR 620 in northern Lakeway. TxDOT spokesperson Kelli Reyna said the agency routinely studies major intersections to see if signals would be beneficial and determined that the intersections warrant a traffic signal. An erosion issue caused by an undersized pipe on Wildcat Hollow, near Redbud Trail and Westlake Drive in West Lake Hills, was repaired. Date completed: November

TxDOT completed a new auxiliary southbound lane on RR 620 from just north of Lohmans Crossing Road in Lakeway to Spillman Loop in Bee Cave in early January. The project included repaving and restriping the roadway. Date completed: November

A traffic signal was installed at the intersection of Lohmans Crossing Road and Lohmans Spur. Date completed: November

Auxiliary lanes on Loop 360 at Walsh Tarlton Lane, MoPac and the Barton Creek Square Mall entrance were added. Date completed: December
