Lakeway to provide dispatch services for Leander ISD police

Data from last year estimates LISD would have accounted for 2.7% of LPD’s workload if it had been part of the city’s dispatch system at that time, costing $32,682.

Under the agreement, LPD will also share Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System services with LISD PD through its Athena software.

“It is my belief that this relationship will benefit both parties,” said Glen Koen, report author and Lakeway chief of police, in a City Council document.

Moving forward

The interlocal agreement is only for the 2026-27 school year. The workload created by LISD’s use of the system will be assessed in July 2027 to determine if additional compensation is needed for any possible workload increase caused to the administrative workload due to data sharing.

Lakeway provides dispatch services for the Lakeway Police Department alongside Lake Travis and Eanes ISDs.

Bee Cave previously received dispatch services from Lakeway, but earlier this year announced plans to switch to Marble Falls for dispatch in FY 2026-27, citing cost concerns.
