Bee Cave City Council approved adopting the Small Business Retention Program, a strategic initiative with the Bee Cave Development Corporation intended to support existing small businesses in the city, at an Aug. 11 council meeting.
The overview
The Small Business Retention Program aims to help businesses maintain operations, pursue growth opportunities and expand their business in order to positively contribute to Bee Cave’s economy, per previous reporting from Community Impact.
The Program provides reimbursement-based grants for expenses related to employee training and certifications, equipment or software purchases and advertising campaigns, according to
city documents.
Eligible businesses can apply for up to $5,000 per project, with advertising and marketing-related projects limited to $3,000.
In order for a business to be eligible for the reimbursement, it must be located within Bee Cave city limits and have been in operation for one year. Applicants must also rent or own commercial property and demonstrate how the project will promote new or expanded business in Bee Cave.
The details
The application process will begin with a completed application form and a presentation of the proposed project to the Bee Cave Development Corporation.
The BCDC may then approve, partially approve or deny the application.
Once approved, applicants then have up to six months from the date of approval to complete the project and submit paid receipts to BCDC for reimbursement.
After reimbursement, the applicant’s business must remain open and operational in Bee Cave for at least one year following the completion of the project and submit a brief outcomes report within 90 days of receiving the grant funds to demonstrate the project impact.
Something else to note
The Bee Cave Development Corporation's fiscal year 2026-27 budget includes $20,000 in funding allocated to the program.
The program will be in effect at the end of August.
