Bee Cave calls general election, makes progress on new library

The three new terms, which begin in May, will go through May 2025.

The filing date for candidacy is Jan. 18-Feb. 17, and packets are available on the city website.

Bee Cave secures new architect and construction manager for library project

Council unanimously voted to approve Lake Flato Architects and Hoar Construction for their architectural and design services and construction manager position, respectively, for the city’s new public library.

Lake Flato Architects is a San Antonio-based company and Hoar Construction is an 80-year-old firm that has been in Texas since 1997. Bee Cave City Manager Clint Garza said city staff was excited about working with both firms.

“Lake Flato Architects is a world-class architect, they can deliver a building you all would be very proud of,” he said.

The anticipated location for the new library is 13308 Hwy. 71, Bee Cave, adjacent to Bee Cave Central Park, and will be in the vicinity of The Backyard development, which is anticipated to open in 2024.

As previously reported by Community Impact, the new public library will be an approximately 24,000 square-feet three-story building. New amenities will include offices for administrative use, a separate work area for technical services, checkout desks on both floors, reference desks on both floors, floor and shelf space for over 45,000 books and laptop docking work stations.

There will also be family restrooms on all floors, public access meeting rooms, a large public conference room, outdoor and indoor book returns, a family play area and reading room, a separate teen program area, a quiet reading room, individual study rooms, usable outdoor spaces for reading or working and a unique play feature for children.
