The city of Humble held an April 26 groundbreaking ceremony for the city’s roughly $6.2 million senior activity center, which will be located at 1419 S. Houston Ave. next to the Humble Civic Center.
Humble Mayor Norman Funderburk, who said the project was projected to be completed by April 2024, thanked the more than three dozen seniors in attendance at the ceremony for their patience with the project.
Quote of note: “We talk a lot about that priority that's placed on our seniors, and that's a real thing. Through it all, we listened, because we do care, so thank you for your patience when you felt frustration. Thank you for your trust that's been shown,” Funderburk said.
