Here are five things you need to know this week if you live in Humble, Kingwood or Atascocita:
May elections
Humble ISD board of trustee positions 1, 3, 4 and 5 are up for re-election May 6. The incumbents are Robert Sitton (Pos. 1), Angela Conrad (Pos. 3), Charles Cunningham (Pos. 4), and Brent Engelage (Pos. 5). In the city of Humble, voters will decide on mayor and two city council positions. The incumbents are Mayor Merle Aaron and council members Andy Curry and Ray Calfee.
Northpark Drive construction expected in 2020
Construction of the Northpark Drive expansion to six lanes from Loop 494 to Woodland Hills Drive is slated for 2020. The work was previously expected to begin in 2019 but was delayed by the Houston-Galveston Area Council. Read about the project here.
New Sheldon ISD high school
Sheldon ISD is constructing a new high school with a football stadium in addition to other sports facilities at the intersection of Beltway 8 and Garrett Road. The facility is less than five miles from Summerwood. The new school will replace the current C. E. King High School and serve as the district’s only high school when it opens in 2019.
