Voters will choose between two candidates for the Texas House District 91 spot during the Nov. 3 election.
What you need to know
The race is between incumbent Republican David Lowe and Democratic candidate Yisak T. Worku.
Texas House District 91 represents parts of Tarrant County including parts of Fort Worth, Watauga, North Richland Hills, Haltom City and Richland Hills.
Candidates were asked to keep responses within 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited or cut to adhere to those guidelines, or for style and clarity.

Oct. 5 is the last day for residents to register to vote, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. Early voting is scheduled to take place from Oct. 19-30.

Why are you running for this position?
To protect voters from the costs, the powerful or forcing them to pay with their lives. To fight back against the rising cost of living. To fight against the encroachment of data centers. To fight against the defunding of public schools and the neglect of our healthcare system.
What will you do to bring down the cost of living for Texas residents?
Address affordable housing by banning out-of-state corporate landlords. Address health care costs by expanding Medicaid and negotiating prices. Address food costs by shifting to farms that grow food we actually eat. Address energy costs by accelerating battery deployment so we can use our cheap solar for longer.
How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?
From what I have seen, this is a false choice. Texans have always been in favor of projects that help their communities. The opposition to data centers and other recent developments is an opposition to harmful projects forced on them by the powerful. So I'll unashamedly stand with the people.
What are your priorities for the future of Texas education?
Increase state funding, closing inequalities across the rural and urban divide and across poor and rich districts. Closing the access gap for special education programs. Lowering class sizes and teacher workloads so each teacher can focus on educating instead of rushing to meet testing standards without focusing on individual students.
