Randklev, Keyes sworn in to Keller ISD board of trustees

Newcomer Dr. Charles Randklev and incumbent Ruthie Keyes were sworn in May 24 during the regular meeting of the Keller ISD board of trustees.

Randklev and Keyes won Places 6 and 7 on the board, respectively.

Randklev, who was joined by his family for his swearing in, explained previously in a candidate Q&A that his top priorities included improving communications among parents, teachers and staff; working with the board and administration to develop a COVID-19 recovery plan; and ensuring the Keller ISD continues to provide an exceptional education experience for all of its students.

In the May 1 election, he defeated Shalunda Corzine and Yohannes A. Mengsteab by earning 66.1% of the vote for the Place 6 seat.

Keyes was sworn in for her fourth term after defeating Jacqueline Reagan for Place 7 with 63.1% of the vote on May 1.

A retired teacher, Keyes cited the Keller ISD’s vision, mission and priorities as her top items of focus in a candidate Q&A.

Keyes was chosen as the board of trustees’ president during the meeting, with Chris Roof (Place 4) chosen to serve as vice president.
