Working with K12 insight, a school-based customer experience solutions firm based near Washington, D.C., KISD began collecting survey responses concerning the boundaries July 29.
Results presented thus far to the board include responses from July 29-Sept. 15, said Jenny Coisson, senior research director with K12 Insight. The survey window will remain open until Oct. 13.
Out of 2,013 survey invitations—sent to parents in land-use zones from Bethke, Bryant, Hutsell, Katy, King, Leonard, McElwain and Windborn elementary schools as well as Katy and Stockdick junior high schools—388 responses were returned, Coisson said.
Survey results showed that 35% of those households that had experienced a modification before reporting having a negative response to the change. However, when asked to describe their children’s experience transitioning to a new school, negative responses decreased to 18%, Coisson said.
