Elyson will be the next site for a new Harmony Public Schools campus after the school system announced its purchase of a 26-acre site in the master-planned community in an Oct. 13 press release.
The site, located at the southeast corner of Peek Road and Elyson Falls Drive between FM 529 and Beckendorff Road, will be home to a kindergarten through 12th-grade campus. It will have both a 59,000-square-foot elementary school and a 90,000-square-foot middle and high school building. The new elementary school will feature an all-new design that will be a prototype for future Harmony system schools. The school will have standard classrooms, specialized learning spaces, technology labs, a “maker’s space," outdoor learning areas, a cafeteria with performance space and a gymnasium.
According to the release, officials plan to break ground on the elementary school Nov. 1 with its inaugural school year beginning in August 2022. The release said no timeline had been determined regarding the construction of the middle and high school building.
