Buc-ee’s will open its Katy location at 27700 I-10 on Monday at 6 a.m., although a representative said little fanfare is planned for the event. Buc-ee's general counsel Jeff Nadalo said the beaver mascot is expected to make an appearance, however. The travel stop will feature a 56,000 square foot building and 120 gas pumps, as well as what is being billed by the company as the world’s longest car wash. Buc-ee's sells snacks, souvenirs, decor, roadside gear and hot food in addition to the gas station. The new location is expected to bring about 200 jobs to the Katy area. Wages at Buc-ee’s are generally $11-$14 according to Glassdoor.com. “Typically, we are going to open with competitive pricing and I think people will find the store to be what they’re looking for,” Nadalo said. Katy City Council approved the new location last year. City Administrator Byron Hebert estimated the business would bring $25 million in annual sales tax revenue, or about $125,000 per year in city revenue, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported. The store will host a pre-opening event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. exclusively for first responders and their families Friday, provided the first responder is in uniform, Nadalo said.
