Community Impact Newspaper contacted some of the several local businesses that contributed to relief efforts around Katy during and after Tropical Storm Harvey. What they offer: Owned by Katie Martin, the studio offers a variety of monthly and seasonal acting class packages. Private lessons are also available. How they helped: Martin opened her studio as a shelter Aug. 29. She partnered with nearby ESN Health, a Katy personal training and nutritional company, to give about 5,000 square feet of shelter space and meals to about 75 families. Twenty-two evacuees stayed in the studio overnight, and Martin helped match those evacuees with families that had space in their homes. She also provided day camps Sept. 4-8 for $25 per week to affected families, raising more than $2,500 for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. “I feel the business is supported by the community, and we should support the community in any way we are able,” Martin said.
