Lane Closures

Several lane closures are scheduled around Hwy. 290 and the Sam Houston Tollway this weekend that have officials warning drivers to expect major delays.



Both northbound and southbound main lanes on the Sam Houston Tollway will be closed between Hwy. 290 and West Road from 9 p.m. Nov. 8 through 5 a.m. Nov. 10. The closure is scheduled to allow workers to hang overhead sign bridges and signs.



All northbound traffic will be required to exit to the frontage road at W. Little York or Hwy. 290. Drivers can reenter the toll lanes after West Road.



Southbound traffic must exit the mainlanes to the frontage road at West Road. To get back to the Sam Houston Tollway, drivers must turn right at Hwy. 290, left on Senate, and continue to the entrance ramp at W. Little York.



During the closure, the northbound entrance to Sam Houston at Philippine and the southbound entrances at Fallbrook and West Road will be closed.



Farther inbound on Hwy. 290, contractors are preparing to start work on westbound main lanes. Plans this weekend involve shifting traffic to inside lanes between Loop 610 and W. 43rd Street.



Westbound Hwy. 290 mainlanes will have two alternating lanes closed continuously from 8 p.m. Nov. 7 through 5 a.m. Nov. 10. The connector ramp from Loop 610 to Hwy. 290 westbound will also be closed from 11 p.m. Nov. 7 through 5 a.m. Nov. 10.



As work progresses on eastbound frontage roads between Eldridge and FM 529 in Cy-Fair, crews are preparing to switch traffic to new eastbound frontage road pavement. Eastbound Hwy. 290 mainlanes will be closed nightly between Eldridge and FM 529 from 9 p.m.–5 a.m. through Nov. 9.



Westbound Hwy. 290 mainlanes between Mueschke and Bauer roads will continue to be closed nightly from 8 p.m.–6 a.m. until Nov. 25. Eastbound frontage roads from Mason to Mueschke will be closed until further notice.
