Several major closures are scheduled along Hwy. 290 this weekend, with some overnight closures running through the rest of July.

Eastbound mainlanes will be closed from the Roberts/Katy Hockley exit through to the Mason Road exit overnight, 8 p.m.-6 a.m. through the morning of July 31. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road.

Hwy. 290 eastbound and westbound mainlanes will be closed at Barker Cypress from 8 p.m. July 18 through 5 a.m. July 21. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the Barker Cypress exit and can reenter the freeway past Barker Cypress.

The Barker Cypress Bridge will also be closed during this time as construction crews begin demolition of the second half of the bridge. Drivers traveling on Barker Cypress will be detoured to the Hwy. 290 frontage roads, U-turn at Skinner or Telge Road, and get back on Barker Cypress on the other side of the highway.

Farther inbound, westbound mainlanes will be closed from W. 43rd Street to Pinemont as crews work to complete the asphalt overlay on inside mainlanes in preparation for the demolition and reconstruction of outside mainlanes. These closures last throughout the weekend, from 8 p.m. July 18 through 5 a.m. July 21, and drivers will be detoured to the frontage roads.

A total closure of Hwy. 290 eastbound and westbound mainlanes at the 610 West Loop is scheduled from 9 p.m. July 18 through 5 a.m. July 21. Drivers going from Hwy. 290 to Loop 610 southbound will be detoured northbound and will have to U-turn. Drivers going from Loop 610 northbound to Hwy. 290 will be detoured to the Loop 610 eastbound and will have to exit, U-turn and reenter the Loop 610 westbound mainlanes connecting to Hwy. 290.

Closures related to the Grand Parkway are also scheduled later into the weekend as crews work on Hwy. 290/Grand Parkway connector ramps. Hwy. 290 westbound mainlanes will be closed from Mueschke Road to Bauer Road overnight July 20 from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road and can reenter past Bauer.
