Multiple Magnolia ISD board of trustees and Magnolia City Council seats were up for election May 4, with incumbents winning in most local races.
MISD and Magnolia City Council last held contested elections in 2015 and 2016, respectively,

About 4.7% of registered voters in MISD cast a ballot in the May election—nearly half the voter turnout in May 2015, according to county data. However, Magnolia City Council races saw 15% voter turnout in May, almost twice as much as the 8% turnout in May 2016, data shows. Countywide, turnout totaled 7.31%, an increase from last May’s 5.78% turnout.
Incumbents Kelly McDonald, Sonja Ebel and Gary Blizzard all received more than 70% of the votes for MISD board of trustees positions, in May, according to Montgomery County election results while Daniel Miller, Matthew Dantzer and incumbent Richard Carby were elected to City Council.
