Project updates


1. Copperhead Road construction
Previously scheduled to begin construction in October, the Montgomery County Precinct 2 project is delayed until the first quarter of 2018, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley. The Copperhead Road project, funded by the 2015 Montgomery County road bond, will add a two-lane road connecting Nichols Sawmill and Sanders Cemetery roads north of FM 2920.

2. Improvements at Hufsmith-Kohrville and Holderrieth roads
Installation of a traffic signal system and left-turn lane began Aug. 14 with an original estimated completion date in the fourth quarter of 2017. Construction is now expected to be finished in December as materials used for the improvements were needed for emergency repairs after Hurricane Harvey, according to Harris County Precinct 4 officials.
Timeline: August-December

3. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road Segment 6 widening
The Harris County Precinct 4 project was awarded to Allgood Construction on Sept. 12. The award phase will take approximately 60-90 days, according to Precinct 4 officials. The project will widen Hufsmith-Kohrville Road between Willow Creek Estates Lane and FM 2920 in Tomball from two to four lanes.
Timeline: fourth quarter 2017-TBA
Cost: $4.6 million

4. Holderrieth Road extension
Harris County Precinct 4 is working to extend Holderrieth Road as a four-lane road from Hwy. 249 west to Calvert Road in Tomball. The project is in the bid and award phase, which will take approximately 90-120 days.
Timeline: late 2017-TBA
Cost: $7.6 million

5. FM 2978 widening
The two-phase project by the Texas Department of Transportation will widen FM 2978 between FM 1488 and Dry Creek from two to four lanes for Phase 1. Phase 2 widens the roadway from south of Dry Creek to Hufsmith-Conroe Road.
Timeline: first quarter 2018-mid 2020 (Phase 1), fourth quarter 2017-second quarter 2020 (Phase 2)
Cost: $24.6 million
Funding sources: TxDOT, Forde Construction Co.

6. FM 1774 widening
TxDOT is working to widen a 2.8-mile stretch of FM 1774 from two to four lanes and add a center turn lane between West Lost Creek Boulevard and FM 149 in Pinehurst. As of late August, the project is 41 percent complete, according to TxDOT.
Timeline: July 2016-third quarter 2018
Cost: $18 million
