The city of Tomball's public pool opened for its summer season June 2 at Jerry Matheson Park, located at 1240 Ulrich Road, Tomball.

The pool is limited to 25% capacity to comply with Gov. Greg Abbott's mandates relating to COVID-19, Public Works Director Beth Jones said.

To comply with 25% occupancy, staff is counting guests as they come into the pool. If 25% occupancy is reached, guests could be turned away temporarily, Jones said, but the pool will maintain a 50-minute swim period followed by a 10-minute adult swim period, during which time there is turnover in attendees.

During the pandemic, the city also deploys a sanitizing fogger throughout the restrooms periodically as well as the benches and picnic table to keep the pool area clean, Jones said.

The 2020 swim season spans June 2-Aug. 16 and is open Tue.-Fri. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sat.-Sun. from noon to 8 p.m., according to city information. The pool will also be open for the postseason Aug. 22-23 and 29-30 and Sept. 5-7.
