Main St., Tomball, will be accepting volunteers to form two teams for cleaning out flooded homes on Wednesday, Aug. 30. These teams will prepare houses for reconstruction, help document damage, rip up carpets, pull down sheetrock and remove damaged household items. In addition to workers, a team captain who has construction experience, team communicator who works directly with home owners and communicates spiritual direction to the team, and team runner who has knowledge of what local stores are open are also requested. Updated 8/29 There are several shelters available in the Tomball and Magnolia area for people to stay temporarily or long term. Officials said these shelters are in need of volunteers and supplies.

A Hurricane Harvey Relief Drive takes place today at Commissioner Charlie Riley's office located at 19110 Unity Park Dr. Magnolia. Suggested items for donation are non-perishable food, toiletries, water bottles, paper goods, bedding, towels, diapers, and infant care items. The drive continues until this evening. Society of Samaritans SOS is accepting donations at The Magnolia Community Center at 422 Melton, Magnolia. Lone Star College-Tomball is now open as a shelter at 30555 State Highway 249, Tomball. To volunteer, donate, or get more information, call the command post at 281-290-5911. www.facebook.com/lonestarcollegetomball Graceview Baptist Church at 25510 Tomball Parkway, Tomball, has several clean beds for those displaced by flooding. Showers, food and water are also available. The shelter needs volunteers every four hours, and several men and women willing to work overnight and make rounds throughout the campus to ensure the safety of the guests. The nurse at this location is requesting blood pressure cuffs, gauze bandages and tape, Band-Aids, Aleve, ibuprofen, Tylenol, and disposable rubber gloves.
