Magnolia ISD announced Monday morning that the district is closed all week. The school year will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Additionally, all Lone Star College campuses, including LSC-Tomball, are closed until Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Tomball Mayor Gretchen Fagan declared a local state of disaster Sunday morning, Aug. 27, for the city. According to a statement, the disaster declaration allows the city to take additional emergency management measures and initiates state and federal aid.

1. Tomball ISD has canceled classes through Friday, Sept. 1, according to a statement from the district.

2. Magnolia ISD has canceled classes for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 28-29. Students were previously scheduled to begin the 2017-18 school year on Monday.

3. Shelters are open in Tomball and Magnolia for displaced residents. The American Red Cross opened a shelter on the campus of Tomball First Baptist Church, located at 401 Oxford St., on Sunday morning, according to a statement from the city. Magnolia's First Baptist Church, located at 18525 FM 1488, Magnolia, has opened its student building for residents seeking shelter. Find additional information on the church's
