A ground breaking ceremony and city budget discussion are among the things to know this week.

1. Abandoned Animal Rescue will celebrate the ground breaking for its future Magnolia facility 10 a.m.-noon Friday, June 23. The no-kill animal shelter plans to relocate from its existing location at 419 E. Hufsmith Road, Tomball, to a larger facility at 32632 Wright Road, Magnolia. 2. Tomball City Council reviews the city's proposed budget for fiscal year 2017-18 during a workshop at 4 p.m. Monday, June 19. Council meets at Tomball City Hall, located at 401 Market St., Tomball. A regular meeting follows at 6 p.m.

3. Society of Samaritans and Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries are among the local entities providing food throughout the summer for Tomball and Magnolia ISD students in need. Here's how to find nutritious meals and snacks for children at no cost.

4. The Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees will not meet June 20 as previously scheduled. The meeting has been cancelled due to summer break. The board of trustees will next meet 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 17.
