The Tomball Regional Health Foundation is celebrating 10 years since its founding in 2012, Chief Administrative Officer Marilyn Kinyo said.

The TRHF has funded health and wellness initiatives totaling $23 million over the last decade, including for organizations such as TOMAGWA Healthcare Ministries, Lone Star College-Tomball and the American Heart Association as well as Tomball, Magnolia, Klein and Cy-Fair ISDs, Kinyo said in an interview.

The TRHF, which was created from the sale of the Tomball Regional Medical Center, offices at 29201 Quinn Road, Ste. A, Tomball, and helps fund initiatives in 13 ZIP codes throughout the Greater Tomball area. Kinyo said by investing the funds from the sale of the hospital, the foundation has been able to grow its total assets to help fund community projects in the future.

"We have grown it from a $76 million organization to over $107 [million]. We've given to over 30 different organizations," she said. "Last year alone we gave $2.8 million to our different projects."

The funds expended for community initiatives are in addition to the foundation's $107 million portfolio, Kinyo said.

Additional organizations that have received funding over the last decade from the foundation include Meals on Wheels—programs for Montgomery County and Northwest Assistance Ministries—the PTSD Foundation of America, Camp Hope, Concordia Lutheran High School, The Rose, Inspiration Ranch, Inspiring Possibilities and Joy Ride Center, among others, Kinyo said. Funds have been given for health and wellness programs focused on mental health, dental, psychiatric needs, specials needs, transportation programs and education programs, such as LSC-Tomball's nursing and LifePath programs.

Kinyo said the 11-member board continues looking for new health and wellness organizations to support in its service area, including Spring ZIP code 77379, which the foundation added in March to expand its reach.

"It's the goal of the board, long after we're gone, it's going to be a perpetual fund. It will last forever long afterwards," said Vicki Clark, board chair of the foundation. "We want to make sure our community is taken care of, so we're trying to be very careful with our funds, invest wisely and make sure that it does grow and it does last forever."

The foundation also welcomed new CEO Jeffrey Klein in early September following the death of former CEO Lynn LeBouef earlier this year.

"The Tomball Regional Health Foundation has been such an important part of this community and has done such tremendous work; I'm just honored to be a part of it now," Klein said.
