During its Nov. 4 meeting, Tomball City Council approved allocating the remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds to city entry monuments and additional seating at Jerry Matheson Park.

The details

Council approved allotting $51,200 and $5,107 towards Tomball gateway monuments, and additional benches and picnic tables for Jerry Matheson Park, committing all remaining funds ahead of the Dec. 31 deadline.

The funds come from the $2.92 million the city received from the March 2021 ARPA, which authorized $1.9 trillion in federal pandemic relief funds, according to the Nov. 4 agenda. All funds remaining must be under contract or committed by Dec. 31.

Tomball officials have previously used the funds for water meters, Louie’s Together Playground and the Depot Museum.
