Tomball Police Chief Jeffrey Bert is one of three finalists being considered for the Boise police chief position, according to a July 9 news release.

The city of Boise chose the three finalists after reviewing 20 applications, according to the news release. Tom Worthy, police chief in The Dalles, Oregon; and Chris Dennison, assistant police chief of the Tucson Police Department, are the other two finalists.
The background
Bert became the Tomball Police Chief in 2020 after retiring from the Los Angeles Police Department, according to the city’s website. Before coming to Tomball, Bert served in the LAPD for 24 years.
Bert also served as interim assistant city manager for Tomball in 2021, as previously reported by Community Impact.
What’s next
Finalists will arrive in Boise on July 17 and, over the next two days, will tour the city; participate in interviews; and meet the public, officers and staff, according to the news release.
