Construction will soon kick off on Louie’s Together Playground after the city of Tomball held a groundbreaking at Juergens Park on July 11.

The overview

The inclusive playground set is inspired by Tomball resident and Chick-fil-A franchisee Brad Munson’s son Louie, who has dwarfism, Community Impact previously reported. The playground will feature a construction theme, inspired by Louie’s love for construction, according to the city’s website.

Speakers at the July 11 event were Mayor Lori Klein Quinn; Director of Public Works Drew Huffman; Kelly Violette, the executive director of the Tomball Economic Development Corporation; and The Munson family, according to a news release from the city.

Construction on the park is anticipated to begin in August, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The cost

The playground equipment is expected to cost a maximum of $815,731 with funding coming from the city of Tomball, the Tomball Economic Development Corp., Chick-fil-A and individual donations, Community Impact previously reported.

The city of Tomball pledged $100,000 for Louie’s Together Playground in April, which comes from the $2.92 million the city received from the March 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, as previously reported by Community Impact. Tomball City Council authorized the use of the funds on April 15.
