Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 10, which provides firefighting services in Magnolia, will begin a national search for its next fire chief, according to a May 7 news release.

Chief Jeff Hevey's contract expires in 2025, and the ESD 10 board wants to be proactive in finding his successor, according to Winkler Public Relations, which represents ESD 10.
Hevey will remain in his position until his successor is identified, according to the news release. Hired in 2021, Hevey led the department during its transition from the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department to the Magnolia Fire Department.
Montgomery County ESD 10 provides emergency services to around 140,000 citizens within approximately 165 square miles, according to the news release. The Magnolia Fire Department operates nine fire stations.
