Check out these nine events happening in July and early August across Tomball and Magnolia as summer is in full swing.

July 10: Meet a crocodile

Guests will be able to see and learn about different kinds of live reptiles, including crocodiles, alligators and snakes, at this summer library program in Tomball. The event is open to all ages, but guests will not be able to touch the live animals.

July 14-16: Enjoy a musical

National Youth Theater's cast of local students will present four performances of “Alice: A Wonder-Full New Musical,” a show that loosely parallels the theme of Lewis Caroll's “Alice in Wonderland.”

July 17: Hang with Orbit, the Astros' mascot

The Tomball library will host Orbit, the mascot for the Houston Astros. Guests of all ages can enjoy a literacy program with books, dancing and jokes as well. Visitors are encouraged to don their Astros gear.

July 21: Attend an open mic night


Guests will be able to visit Re:Bar Cafe for an open mic night of music, comedy, poetry and storytelling. Gluten-free appetizers, coffee, mocktails and Steampunk Juice will also be available.July 30: Shop a vendor market

Paradigm Brewing Co.'s small-business market will welcome guests to shop from more than 50 vendors. Attendees will also be able to enjoy live music, take part in kids crafts, sample Italian ice and enjoy face painting.July 31: See a fire truck

Visitors will be able to see one of the Tomball Fire Department's fire trucks and enjoy a frozen treat at this outdoor event. The program is open to all ages.Aug. 1: Watch a ballet performance

Houston-area high school students with the Houston Repertoire Ballet will perform Vivaldi's “Four Seasons” at this library program open to all ages.

Aug. 4: Celebrate Tomball Night


Tomball Night festivities will return for the 51st year presented by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce, including downtown vendors, a parade of lights, fireworks, a health and wellness expo, and an emphasis on shopping local. Mystery shoppers will also be present for guests to spot and win prizes. The parade will run east on Main Street from Baker Drive to Elm Street and will be followed by fireworks over the Historic Depot at 9:15 p.m.

Aug. 5: Stroll a market

Loblolly Market will return for its monthly market featuring local artisans, food and drinks, and crafters. The first 25 guests will also receive a free swag bag.
