The city of Tomball has canceled its annual spring Clean-up Week and Consolidated Recycle Day until further notice due to concerns related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Public Works Director Beth Jones said. Originally scheduled to be held during the week of April 20-25 at the Lone Star College-Tomball campus, the city will no longer be collecting large items from Tomball residents to be disposed of at the city's landfill during this time.

However, despite the event's cancellation, the city will still be offering a free chipping service during the week of April 20-25 for residents wanting to dispose of brush and small limbs. Residents are asked to call 281-290-1400 one week in advance to participate.

For chipping, city residents are asked to:

  • turn all big ends of brush and limbs toward the road or in one direction;

  • limit size to a maximum of 6-8 feet;

  • keep logs separate from limbs and include nothing over 6 inches in diameter;

  • place limbs and brush near roadside and not on property; and

  • bag leaves for regular garbage pickup Monday or Thursday.
