In a statement, Matthew "Doc" Dantzer said he wanted to thank his wife, Rana, and his family for their support.

"We worked hard during this campaign," Dantzer said. "We would also like to thank all the citizens who took time to meet with me before the election as well as the small businesses who helped get out the information on voting. [The] final thank you goes to Mayor Todd Kana for his 20 years of dedicated service to the city of Magnolia. Mayor Kana was a great mentor and friend."

Dantzer said during his upcoming term as mayor, his focus will include ending ongoing lawsuits with Magnolia ISD, improving communication with residents, ending the temporary development moratorium and maintaining Magnolia's small-city culture while planning for the coming growth.

In a statement, Magnolia Mayor Todd Kana said he "enjoyed the time the citizens of Magnolia allowed me to serve them."

"I’ve spent the past 19 years of my life serving Magnolia," Kana said. "Many are unaware that this is an unpaid position, but I feel I approached the job as if it was my livelihood. I feel confident I am leaving the city in much better shape than when I received it, and I wish the new mayor the best of luck."

With 24 of 24 election day precincts reporting, incumbent Todd Kana lost his re-election bid to challenger and Position 2 City Council member Matthew "Doc" Dantzer in the race for Magnolia mayor, according to results from Montgomery County. Kana received 45%, or 93 votes, while Dantzer received 55%, or 112 votes.

With 17 of 24 election day precincts reporting, incumbent Todd Kana is trailing challenger and Position 2 City Council member Matthew "Doc" Dantzer in the race for Magnolia mayor, according to results from Montgomery County. Kana has 45% of the vote, and Dantzer has 55% of the vote.

Kana was first elected in 2010, according to the city's website.

According to unofficial results from Montgomery County, incumbent Todd Kana is leading challenger and Position 2 City Council member Matthew "Doc" Dantzer in the race for Magnolia mayor. Kana has 54% of the votes, and Dantzer has 46% of the votes.
