Due to a lack of opposing candidates, the cities of Magnolia and Tomball canceled their May 6 municipal elections at their March 14 and 20 meetings, respectively.
In Magnolia, all three incumbents—Daniel Miller, Matthew Dantzer and Richard Carby—were running unopposed as of the Feb. 16 filing deadline. In Tomball, Position 1 City Council Member John Ford’s opponent Sharon Finger withdrew in early March, while Position 5 Council Member Randy Parr was running unopposed.
“We will not be having a general election,” Mayor Lori Klein Quinn said during the March 6 City Council meeting. “We had an opponent that dropped out due to a family emergency, health issues, and so we will not be having an election.”
The Magnolia ISD election will still take place as Position 4 is contested, while Tomball ISD does not have any positions up for election this year.
