The Magnolia ISD board of trustees approved a rezoning map for the district’s intermediate and junior high schools for the 2025-26 school year at its Oct. 14 meeting.

What to know

The rezoning will affect the Magnolia Parkway Intermediate School and Magnolia Parkway Junior High School. Assistant Superintendent of Administration Ben King told the board the previous map was changed with recommendations from parents.

There will be a transfer request application process for parents who want their child to remain at their current campus that will open Oct. 21 and close on Nov. 1, King said.

“One of the reasons we have such a quick turnaround for the rezoning is because we have to have a certainty on the number of students we’re going to have on those two campuses so we can staff them,” King said.

How we got here

King presented a new zoning map and feedback the district received from parents to the board at its September meeting.

The district conducted two surveys in August and September asking for feedback on the rezoning, with respondents expressing concerns about students’ proximity and transportation options, as previously reported by Community Impact.

What’s next

The transfer application for MISD opens Oct. 21.
