Raj Hope Foundation, a Magnolia-based organization providing classes and opportunities to adults with limited abilities, launched its summer classes June 6.

Founded in 2007, the organization moved to its own location in September at 30630 Beyette Road, Magnolia, after previously using space in the Magnolia United Methodist Church, president and co-founder Megha Vansadia said. The new location allows the organization more space for classes and activities as teaching staff permits.

"Our goal is to expand our program by adding more days/hours depending upon finding more qualified teachers," Vansadia said in an email.

In a phone interview, Vansadia said basketball and picnic areas are in progress on the new campus while fundraising efforts continue.

The summer programming aims to keep individuals active and improve their quality of life, Vansadia said. Activities are held 2-6 p.m. Tue.-Thu. this summer with classes focusing on science experiments, arts and crafts, cooking, games, and math and reading comprehension, among other skills. The first two classes are free; students must be independent in self-care skills, and Vansadia said summer programming is geared toward adults age 17 and older, although spots are limited.

Outings are also planned for activities, such as going to see movies, going on a safari, bowling, swimming and the Special Olympics, Vansadia said.

Tuition for the summer classes is $375 for the month or $50 per class.
