Fort Bend ISD received a ‘B’ accountability rating for the 2025-26 school year from the Texas Education Agency based on its A-F accountability system, according to TEA data released Aug. 14.
The overview
As previously reported by Community Impact, 85% of campuses in the state received a rating of ‘C’ or higher, which is considered “acceptable academic performance” by the TEA.
High school ratings are based on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness scores combined with students' success after graduation in college, career and military readiness, whereas elementary and middle school ratings are largely based on STAAR scores.
Per the TEA, the system measures students' learning and whether or not they are ready for the following grade-level. Ratings are based on three domains:
- Student Achievement: measures whether students met STAAR test expectations, graduation rate, students preparedness post-high school
- School Progress: students performance over time and how it compares to similar schools, and academic growth from year to year
- Closing the Gaps: measuring performance across all student groups
A-F ratings provide information on school and district performance to serve as a tool for parents, educators, policymakers and local communities to make informed decisions regarding student success, according to a TEA news release.
The details
Fort Bend ISD’s overall rating increased from an 80 out of 100 in 2024-25 to an 82 in 2025-26, per TEA data. Both scores are up from 2022-23 and 2023-24 when the district scores a 79.
TEA provides a districtwide, and campus-specific accountability ratings. Overall, 70 of 81 Fort Bend campuses received a rating of ‘C’ or higher, with TEA data showing:
- 23 campuses receiving an ‘A’
- 26 campuses receiving a ‘B’
- 21 campuses receiving a ‘C’
- 11 campuses receiving a ‘D’
Across the district, 15 campuses improved by at least one letter grade and the district had zero ‘F’ rated campuses down from three in 2024-25, district officials announced in an Aug. 14 news release.

Fort Bend ISD superintendent Marc Smith said the results reflect the collective focus on improving student outcomes across the district.
“Our improvement over the past two years is a testament to the intentional implementation of the systems and accountability our district and campus leaders put into place,” Smith said in the news release.
