Lone Star College-Creekside Center opened a children’s library Sept. 12, said Janna Hoglund, director of the LSC-Tomball Community Library.

“Our wonderful partner, which is Lone Star College-Tomball, is very generous, and they gave us the use of the former bookstore at the Lone Star College-Creekside Center that we’re now utilizing as the children’s library,” Hogland said.

The Tomball library acts as a parent library to the Creekside Center, Hogland said.

“The collection in the children’s library is mostly for children,” Hogland said. “We have picture books; we have fiction; we have nonfiction.”

Hogland said books for teens and adults will remain in the main library, as the books in the children’s library will be geared toward younger customers.

The Creekside library also has a small play area for families and children to use, and craft materials are available for use in the library or to check out. Programs, such as storytime, will begin later this year or in the beginning of 2023, and Santa Claus has plans to visit the library Dec. 7, Hogland said.

The children’s library at LSC-Creekside Center is located at 8747 W. New Harmony Trail, Tomball, and is open Mon.-Thu. from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 832-761-6646. www.facebook.com/tomballlibrary
