Tomball ISD's District Zone Committee will hold a series of meetings in October to discuss attendance boundary changes ahead of the opening of a new elementary school in August 2020 and a new junior high school in August 2021, district officials announced in the district newsletter Oct. 1.

According to district information, the District Zone Committee will meet Oct. 3 and Oct. 10—with a possible third meeting Oct. 17—with a demographic consultant to develop options for new attendance boundaries. Meetings are held from 9-11 a.m. at the TISD Staff Development Center, located at 1302 Keefer Road, Tomball.

Committee meetings are open to the public, but discussion will be limited to committee members, according to district information. However, an open public forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the TISD Staff Development Center.

After working with a demographer, the District Zone Committee will recommend attendance boundary changes to the board of trustees, who will review and approve new attendance boundaries, according to district information. Attendance zones will be realigned to populate new schools and relieve existing campuses.

The new schools will be part of a TISD complex at Cypress Rosehill Road and Hwy. 99, which will also include a district football stadium and water and wastewater treatment plants. Land clearing is underway at the complex, as Community Impact Newspaper previously reported. Construction of the district complex is funded by the $275 million bond referendum voters approved in November 2017.

The new elementary school, slated to open in August 2020, will draw students from Wildwood Elementary, while the new junior high school—slated to open in August 2021—will draw students from Willow Wood Junior High School, as both those campuses have seen enrollments surpass building capacities in recent years, as Community Impact Newspaper previously reported.
