Three projects funded by Magnolia ISD’s 2015 bond referendum are expected to wrap up in early 2018, Executive Director of Facilities Tim Bruner said in a meeting Nov. 13.

The District Conference Center—a 15,000-square-foot meeting space—is set to open by April 1. Magnolia and Bear Branch intermediate schools, which will house fifth and sixth grades beginning in the 2018-19 school year, are expected to be finished in the spring as well, Bruner said. Both new schools feature learning stairs as an alternative classroom space.

“[The learning stairs are] one of the unique features at both of these intermediate schools,” Bruner said. “This is where you can take several classrooms and sit them down and just have a little bit of a different environment than a classroom.”
