Since opening in August 2014, owner Danel Macaluso has seen her cafe gain traction as a new lunch hot spot in the downtown Tomball area.
“Business has been pretty good,” Macaluso said. “I would say it’s kind of steady. Some days are better than others for the most part. I think we’re one of the only restaurants [in downtown] that is open on Mondays, so it’s probably one of our busiest days.”
The cafe serves about 50 to 75 customers a month from Tomball, Cypress, Spring, The Woodlands and other surrounding areas during lunch, she said. The most popular menu items include chicken salad and a turkey bacon avocado panini.
Lunch Ladies also serves salads, desserts and an occasional hot lunch item, which varies depending on the day.
“It’s comfortable, nice and quiet so people can talk,” Macaluso said. “I’ve heard that a lot from people who come in and stay for a long time.”
Since 1997, Macaluso has also operated a separate online-based catering company called Lagniappe of The Woodlands where she cooks family-style dinners like chicken pot pie for delivery.
