The TRHF serves the Tomball region with a mission to “promote wellness and improve health status for all residents through programs that enhance access to health care, preventative care and health education.”
The details
The new 9,500-square-foot administrative and learning center will sit on 5.5-wooded acres within the Tomball Medical Center. The building will house a conference center that will be used for learning opportunities and guest speakers, a space for board meetings, and administrative offices.
The building is set to be surrounded by features that promote health and wellness, including:
- A detention pond
- Shaded walking trail
- Fitness stations
- Sensory garden
- Covered pavilion
The TRHF purchased the 5.5 acres of land in April 2021, and locally owned construction company Paradigm Construction will be building the project.
The foundation serves 13 ZIP codes containing 650,000 people, and its board decided to create the fitness park, TRHF CEO Jeffrey Klein said.
Quote of note
“This board feels that we are not just funders to people in our community, but we are funding partners,” Klein said. “We have 44 partner organizations that we support, not only with our funding, but with our ability to network, our ability to put people together, our ability to help them get to know one another. ... We see it as just the right thing to do for our community.”
